Mayor Keffer Provides Evening Update on Storm
Township employees busy with downed tree limbs and power outages.

Following up on my earlier email about the snow, DPW is currently plowing the mountain as that area has gotten over four inches due to the high elevation. The lower areas of Springfield are being addressed with salt, grit and plowing where necessary.
The trees are the main issue breaking all over town under the weight of the wet snow. We have addressed over 32 calls with limbs and trees down. I just received another 22 calls on my voicemail from residents while I was in the field.
We do have localized power outages mostly due to incident at the intersection of Mountain and Shunpike. JCP&L crews are working on the issues and the township is keeping a close watch to ensure that work gets done as quickly and safely as possible.
Luckily the snow seems to have changed over to rain for now. If your power is out or you know of down power lines please contact JCP&L at 1-888-544-4877. To report fallen trees blocking roads please contact the police department at 973-376-0400. We will continue to monitor the situation. Hugh A. KefferMayor
