Sara Abraham and Gina Corrcione are welcomed onto the force.

The Springfield Auxiliary Police unit has grown more than it ever has in its history this year.
At the latest township committee meeting, Springfield officials swore in two new members, Sara Abraham and Gina Corrcione.
Abraham and Corrcione join recently sworn in members Seneta Whiting, Cheryl Becker, William Epstein, Gladys Salas and Antoni Nacci. In addition, former Auxiliary officer Wally Schultz returned to the auxiliary police this year after a leave of absence.

The new members trained with the Essex County Sheriff’s office, completing an Auxiliary Police Training Program. The eight person addition is the largest increase in the auxiliary police’s 40-plus year history.
The new auxiliary members will undergo firearms training, as well as extensive on the job training. The auxiliary officers augment the township’s professional police force in a variety of ways, including patrol, emergency response and dispatching.
