Saint James the Apostle School Students Know that Every Penny Counts!
School raises over $2,000 in small change donations for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Saint James the Apostle School celebrated Catholic Schools Week in the beginning of February with a month-long community service learning project of collecting Pennies for Patients for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Every student in PreK-3 through Grade 8 received collection box to take home to collect loose change. Every classroom received a large cardboard donation box and poster to track donations. The students at Saint James tracked their amounts for 4 weeks and raised $2,646.07. The classes collecting the highest average per student were the 3rd and 4th grades who will celebrate with a pizza party. The class collecting the highest overall amount was the 5th grade who will celebrate with an ice cream party. Students from 3rd, 4th and 5th grade presented a very BIG check to the LLS representative, Michelle Lupo. Many of the students donated from their own piggy banks and learned the value of serving others through sacrifice.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world's largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer.
