Short story class at the Springfield Public Library
SPRINGFIELD LIBRARY TO OFFER A FREE, EIGHT PART SHORT STORY CLASS THIS FALL

The Springfield Free Public Library is pleased to offer a free, eight part short story class, open to all adults ages eighteen and up. The first class is schedule to take place from 7:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 15. Subsequent classes are scheduled for September 29, October 6 & 20, November 3 & 17, and December 1 & 15. Although attendance at all eight sessions is strongly encouraged, it is not required for participation in this group. The classes will be led by Dr. Andrea Green, recently retired as a professor and a former chair of the English Department at Union County College, after a career as a teacher and administrator at the college that spanned forty years. Dr. Green is also a published and produced playwright and was the winner of a Critic’s Choice award. She received her B.A. from the University of New Mexico and her M.A. and Ed.D. from Seton Hall University.
Stories to be discussed during the eight class sessions will include works by such masters of the short story genre as James Baldwin, Raymond Carver, William Faulkner, Ernest Hemingway, Bobbie Ann Mason, and Edgar Allan Poe. Copies of the stories will be provided for all participants and no purchases will be required. The intent of this series of classes is recreational and no exams or written assignments will be given.
