The town didn’t need the lights on at Roessner Field Sunday night, as the Springfield Junior Baseball League Major League All Stars shined bright.
The game pitted Orange and Blue teams against each other, creating a color combo Dayton students and sports fans are very familiar with. Blue pulled away in the later innings to win 9-6.
The Orange team took an early 2-0 lead in the first, thanks to a string of singles and stolen bases, and at one point held a 6-2 lead in the game, which featured spectacular fielding, deep hits and fundamental baseball.

The Blue team made a late comeback, particularly in the fourth and fifth innings, when wild throws hindered the Orange team and back-to-back RBI doubles lifted the Blue teams spirits, ultimately grabbing a 7-6 lead and never looking back from there.
The Major League is made up of fifth and sixth graders, and the Minor League All Star Game, compiled of third and third graders, took place earlier in the day.

The game wasn't the only action on the field. Besides the concessions and Springfield athletic paraphernalia being sold, Topps baseball cards was there, passing out packs of Topps Attax, their new baseball card game.
Parents and kids alike had a great time, with the family atmosphere in full effect, as families cheered for their kids all night. No matter what their baseball future holds, the All Stars will surely remember this day.
