Springfield Board of Adjustments Expected to Decide on T-Mobile Tower Tonight

Meeting is tonight at 8 p.m. at Springfield's town hall.

Tonight, Springfield’s Board of Adjustments is expected to decide whether T-Mobile can build a proposed 175-foot tower near the Summit border on Knights of Columbus-owned property on Shunpike Road. 

T-Mobile applied for a variance to exceed Springfield's construction height maximum of 40 feet as well as is other zoning concessions.

For the last several months, legal and technical experts contracted by T-Mobile have argued that the tower of that height needs to be built at that location to ensure communications for their customers and in emergency situations. T-Mobile concluded their arguments in May. Opponents made their case at the Board of Adjustments meeting in June. The July meeting was canceled when too few Board members were able to attend.
