Springfield Employee Recognition: Julio Ayala

Laborer and versatile repairman Ayala retires this year.

Six Springfield Employees were recognized for their service to the Township at a morning “Mugging event” last week.

Township Administrator Anthony Cancro gave six employees—including three retirees—with superlative service records mugs in recognition of their on-the-job achievements. The municipal employees recognized included library employees, police officers and maintenance workers.

Before presenting the mugs, provided by Investor’s Savings Bank, Cancro spotlighted how each employee earned the recognition, and thanked them each for “going the extra mile.”

Patch will highlight each employee recognized in the Mugging Event.

Hired as a laborer in Dec., 1990, Ayala plowed snow and maintained parks until he was promoted to an equipment operator in 1998. He operated five heavy-duty pieces of equipment, but that wasn’t the extent of his service to the Township. A talented handyman, Ayala tinkered with municipal plumbing, air conditioning and electrical systems.

“We will all miss Julio’s ‘I can fix that’ attitude,” Cancro said.
