Springfield Honors Holocaust Survivors with Days of Remembrance

Days of Remembrance now until Sunday, May 8.

Three generations of Springfield residents impacted by the Holocaust were honored by Springfield officials in honor of the Township's Days of Remembrance from May 1 to May 8.

This week, Springfield residents are asked to remember the millions of Jews, Gypsies, Poles and others decimated by the Nazis.

Three survivors of the Holocaust, Miriam Gershwin, Marcel Tesse and Sol Enis, were on hand to accept the proclamation for the Days of Remembrance. They were joined by Dotti and Amy Shtafman, a daughter and granddaughter, respectively, of survivors.

The Days of Remembrance were established as the nation’s annual commemoration of the Holocaust and created along with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum as a permanent living memorial to the victims. This theme of this year's Holocaust remembrance week is "Justice and Accountability in the Face of Genocide: What Have We Learned?"
