Springfield Husband Killed, Wife Hospitalized In Head-On Crash
Karam Awad and his wife Josephine Samaan of Springfield were driving in Monroe when a car crossed the double yellow lines and hit them.
SPRINGFIELD, NJ — A Springfield Township husband was killed and his wife was hospitalized with serious injuries following a head-on collision in Monroe Township on Monday night.
On April 15 at 5:11 p.m., Sahil Parikh, 26 of Monroe Township was driving a 2006 Infiniti G35 north on Applegarth Road, just south of the intersection with Lilac Road, when he crossed over the double yellow center line into oncoming traffic and hit a 2006 Lincoln Town Car head-on, Monroe Township Police Sgt. Sergeis Jangols said.
Karam Awad, 56, and his wife Josephine Samaan, 52, of Springfield were both inside the Lincoln during the crash.

Parikh, along with the couple, were all transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. Awad, the driver of the Lincoln, sustained severe leg and internal injuries and was pronounced dead on Monday night, Jangols said.
Awad's wife, Samaan, who was in the front passenger seat, was treated for serious injuries including to her left shoulder and lower abdominal, and was released Tuesday.

Parikh was treated for his minor hand, leg, hip and abdomen injuries and was released Monday night.
"This crash is still under active investigation and we are working on determining what caused Mr. Parikh to cross the double yellow center line into the oncoming lane of travel,"Jangols said.
No summonses have been issued since the investigation is ongoing.
