Springfield Public Schools Business Administrator To Serve As NJASBO Second Vice-President
Matthew Clarke Named at NJASBO June Conference

Springfield Board of Education Business Administrator (BA)/ Board Secretary, Matthew A. Clarke, will serve as second vice-president of the New Jersey Association of School Business Officials (NJASBO) during the 2015-2016 school year.
Clarke has served as the BA/Board Secretary for Springfield Public Schools since November 2002, and has been in school business administration for 22 years. He is a member of NJASBO’s Board of Trustees and served on numerous committees including Legislative Network, Technology, Specifications & Purchasing, and Budget/Finance. He is a past recipient of NJASBO’s Above & Beyond Award.
Prior to his current role, Clarke was the Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Business Operations for the Owensboro Public Schools in Kentucky; he began his career in school administration with the Scotch Plains Fanwood Board of Education as the Assistant BA in 1993, later becoming the BA/Board Secretary. Before becoming a school business administrator, Clarke spent five years in the private sector as a Mortgage Service Representative and an Assistant Vice President at Haven Savings Bank.

Clarke has held several leadership positions within the Union County Association of School Business Officials (UCASBO), including two terms each as secretary, vice president, and president; he also is a member of ASBO International.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from Lycoming College, has held a New Jersey School Business Administrator Certificate since 1998, and is a New Jersey Qualified Purchasing Agent.

Clarke has three children with his wife of 25 years, Gayle.
