St. Peter's Prep Graduates Two Springfield Residents

Springfield resident Christian Schmidt gave the year's graduation speech.

Saint Peter’s Preparatory School celebrated its 134th Commencement at Saint Peter’s College on June 9, sending 223 graduates into the world, including two from Springfield. Springfield natives Patrick Coyle and Christian Schmidt both received diplomas. In addition, Schmidt delivered the year's graduation speech.

Coyle, son of Kathleen and Patrick Coyle, will attend University of Maryland, College Park. While at St. Peter's, Coyle was a consistent Honor Roll student and was a member of the Campus Ministry Team and many clubs. He was the captain of the crew team and also played football and rugby.

Schmidt son of Denice and Matthew Schmidt, graduated Cum Laude. He will attend Georgetown University. Coyle, a consistent Honor Roll student, was named a Scholar/Athlete at graduation. Christian was also selected to deliver the graduation speech to his classmates. For this honor, he was presented the Vincent J. Kennedy, ’39 Award as the speaker for the class of 2012. While at Prep, Schmidt was a member of the football and rugby teams as well as the Campus Ministry Team.
