Stop & Shop and Kellogg Company Join Forces to Fight Food Insecurity
Kellogg donates $10,000 to support local food bank in connection with Stop & Shop 'Food for Friends' Program

Stop & Shop has teamed up with Kellogg Company to support New Jerseyans in need. Kellogg Company donated $10,000 and a trailer full of delicious food to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ) in Hillside, NJ. Representatives from both companies volunteered to sort and pack food for distribution through CFBNJ’s statewide network of community partners. Stop & Shop is one of the largest donors to CFBNJ, which it has partnered with for decades.
The donation of food and funds are being made in conjunction with Stop & Shop’s ‘Food for Friends’ program. The program is currently being held in all 400+ stores throughout the chain from May 5th through June 4th. During ‘Food for Friends’, customers can round up their change to the nearest dollar or donate $1, $3, or $5 at checkout. One hundred percent of the proceeds will be donated to Stop & Shop’s 12 food bank partners, including the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. The goal of ‘Food for Friends’ is to help eliminate hunger and provide greater food access to children and families in need in our communities. In 2022, through this same program, Stop & Shop donated over $130,000 to CFBNJ.
“At Stop & Shop, our number one charitable focus has always been to fight against hunger in the communities we serve,” said Jennifer Barr, Director of External Communications & Community Relations at Stop & Shop. “We are very thankful to our philanthropic customers for supporting our ‘Food for Friends’ program, which helps our local food banks with their hunger-relief programs. We are also proud to work with such amazing partners like Kellogg Company, who are generously making an impactful donation to help in the fight against food insecurity.”

"In New Jersey, about 650,000 people are food insecure, including 175,000 children," said Karen Leies, Chief of External Affairs at the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. "Recently, the effects of inflation and the expiration of pandemic-related federal safety nets have made it even more difficult for our neighbors to put food on the table. It's thanks to committed partners like Stop & Shop and Kellogg's that CFBNJ can work to ensure adequate access to nutritious food for all of residents of the Garden State."
Food insecurity exists in every county in the United States. In 2021, 53 million Americans utilized food banks.1
