Two Springfield Roads To Be Resurfaced

Sections of South Springfield Ave. and Mountain Ave. will be repaired in an NJ DOT project.

Union County officials announced that two Springfield roadways would be among upcoming road resurfacing projects for Union County. Two sections of South Springfield Ave. and a length of Mountain Ave. are scheduled for repairs.

Work on the roads will begin in May.

The road repairs are part of a County-wide road resurfacing project. In the course of the project, 12 miles of roadway will be repaired. The work is part of a $5.6 million New Jersey Department of Transportation funded project.

County roads in Elizabeth, Roselle, Clark, Rahway, Union Township, Scotch Plains and Plainfield will also be resurfaced.

According to a release from the County, the project, together with one previously approved and paid for with funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) puts the total miles of roadway slated to be paved in 2010 at thirty-six, which is triple the normal amount done each year.

The project will impact South Springfield Ave. from Mountain Avenue to Meisel Ave.,  Mountain Ave. from Hillside Avenue to 660 feet North of Sheffield St. and South Springfield Ave. from Lynn Drive to Meisel Ave.
