STONE HARBOR, NJ — Internationally renowned artist Josef Kote will return to Ocean Galleries in Stone Harbor for his ninth exhibition with the gallery Friday, July 17 through Sunday, July 19.

The three-day exhibition, Feel Free, will feature 20 new original paintings, a curated selection of limited-edition giclée prints, and opportunities for visitors to meet Kote during artist receptions throughout the weekend. Admission is free and open to the public.

“This exhibit showcases artworks inspired by Stone Harbor, Avalon, and the nearby New Jersey shoreline,” says Kote. “The title evokes the ocean’s vastness, the gentle breeze, and the endless possibilities that define this remarkable coast.”

Many of the new works draw inspiration from the landscapes and atmosphere of Seven Mile Island, reflecting Kote’s long-standing connection to the region and Ocean Galleries.

“Returning to Ocean Galleries again feels especially meaningful,” explains Kote. “Over the years, it’s grown beyond an exhibition space; it’s become an integral part of my journey and my connection to the gallery and the beautiful New Jersey shore.”

The collection also includes several patriotic coastal scenes created in recognition of America’s upcoming 250th anniversary.

“As we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary this summer, the collection prominently features the American flag, symbolizing history, pride, and unity,” says Kote. “The American flag appears in several paintings, integrated into the landscapes not merely as decoration but as a vital part of the story of place, memory, tradition, and home.”

Ocean Galleries owner Kim Miller says Kote's annual exhibition has become one of the gallery's signature events.

“Bringing Josef Kote to Stone Harbor is a dream come true. My goal for the last 40 years has been to bring incredible artists and art to people here,” Miller says. “This is a small beach town, and I'm proud that we've been able to introduce something so unique and special to the community.”

Recognized internationally for blending classical technique with contemporary themes, Kote has built a devoted following among collectors worldwide.

The Feel Free exhibition and artist receptions are complimentary and open to the public. Original paintings and limited-edition prints will be available for acquisition throughout the weekend at Ocean Galleries in Stone Harbor.
