1 Car, 1 Bike Stolen Out Of Summit Last Week: Police Blotter

SUMMIT, NJ — According to the most recent police blotter, one car theft and one bike theft occurred last week in Summit.

Car thefts and burglaries, as well as bike thefts, have become increasingly common in the Summit area in recent months. Police Chief Steven Zagorski has continued to encourage residents to lock their cars and remove the key fobs from inside when parked.

The most recent car theft occurred during the overnight hours on Friday when a white 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee was stolen from a Morris Avenue business, according to Summit Police.

Police said the key fobs were in possession of the victim at the time of the theft. The total amount of the theft is about $31,000, police said.

Then on Sunday morning, police said a bike from a Woodland Avenue residence was stolen. The victim told Summit Police that the theft occurred during overnight hours and that the bike was secured to a railing with a cable lock.

Stolen was a black electric HeyBike bicycle, valued at $1,000, police said.
