5 Union County Towns Ranked Among Safest In New Jersey

Safewise released a list of the safest towns in New Jersey this week. Berkeley Heights ranked the highest in Union County.

UNION COUNTY, NJ — Safewise, a security systems company that conducts surveys on the safest towns in the country, released a list this week on the safest towns in New Jersey.

Five Union County towns were ranked among the safest in New Jersey. Berkeley Heights was the highest ranked Union County town on the list, which came in at No. 20.

Safewise reviewed the latest FBI Crime Report statistics, comparing the number of reported violent crimes (murder, robbery, rape, and aggravated assault) and property crimes (burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson) in each city.

Safewise noted that the state’s violent crime is dropping and 50 New Jersey communities have an average crime rate that is 78 percent less than it is across the country.
