SUMMIT, NJ – May 1, 2019 – Alexandra Butman, 16, of Morris Plains, NJ is a 2019 recipient of the NJ Governor’s Award in Dance. New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble (NJDTE) celebrates this momentous accomplishment of the seasoned NJDTE dancer.

“I am so honored to have received this award. I am thankful for my parents, my amazing teachers at New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble, and my experience at Morris County School of Technology, that helped shape my dancing. I aspire to be dancing at a professional company, traveling the world and doing what I love. Throughout my years of training I've been driven to become my best self and work beyond the goals I have set for myself. I am truly grateful for all of the opportunities and experiences I have been given that turned me into the dancer I am today,” says Butman.

Butman is the daughter of Natalia Ejova and Andrij Cybyk of who were both professional dancers. Butman is currently a Junior at Morris County Vocational Technology majoring in Dance. She has received a full Scholarship to study in Canada this summer 2019 at the L'École Superieure Du Quebec.

We are so proud of her and this wonderful honor by Dance NJ. “Sasha” has received a full Scholarship to study in Canada this summer 2019 at the L'École Superieure Du Quebec.

Butman will join the group of eight awardees on May 14th at the Trenton War Memorial to receive the prestigious award. Butman will next be seen performing in NJDTE’s ¡Balli di Primavera!
