American Red Cross Classes Held at The Connection

The Connection will be hosting a series of American Red Cross classes for community members, current lifeguards, and aspiring ones.

The Connection will be hosting a series of American Red Cross classes for community members, current lifeguards, and aspiring ones.

All courses are blended learning classes which combine online learning with on-site skill sessions. Participants should plan to complete the initial online lessons of their training at least two days prior to their first on-site skills session.

For current Lifeguards, or those whose certifications have lapsed within the last 30 days, there will be a Lifeguard Recertification class held on Sunday, February 25 and Sunday, March 4 from 9:00am-4:00pm. Participants must attend all class sessions. In order to complete all online sessions ahead of time, the last day to register for this recertification will be February 22.

A Community First Aid/CPR/AED class for ages 14+ will be held on Sunday, March 25 from 9:00am-4:00pm. This community course teaches students to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies and how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies to help victims of any age. In order to complete all online sessions ahead of time, the last day to register for this course will be March 22.

For aspiring Lifeguards ages 15+, a full Lifeguard Certification course will be held Monday, April 9, Wednesday, April 11, and Friday, April 13, from 10:00am-4:30pm. Participants must attend all class sessions. In order to complete all online sessions ahead of time, the last day to register for this course will be April 5.

The full Lifeguarding class provides participants with the knowledge and skills needed to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies, as well as provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over. The course content and activities prepare participants to respond quickly and effectively in order to prevent drowning and injuries.
