SUMMIT- Kevin Zychowski of Mendham will stay in state and continue his basketball career next season at Division III Stevens Institute in Hoboken, NJ. The Stevens Institute Ducks are a member of the Empire 8 Conference and ended the season with 16-4.
The son of Jania and Brian Zychowski, Kevin is a two- year starter at Oratory Prep in Summit, NJ. Last season he averaged 11.5 points per game leading Oratory to its first ever state tournament semi-final appearance.
This year as a senior he led the 10-7 Oratory team with 17.7 points per game average. He finished first in Union County and 13th in the state with 82 three pointers made. At the final game of the season against powerhouse St. Anthony’s, Kevin scored his all-time high of 31 points.
“Kevin’s overall game has improved so much from junior to senior year,” said Oratory Coach Brian Martin. “His shooting range has always been off the charts and that stretches a defense. The improvement this year is his ability to penetrate when the defense extends and create better scoring opportunities for the whole team.” Coach Martin predicted, “Kevin will be tremendous asset to the Stevens Institute team and community.”
Kevin plans to major in Quantitative Finance.
