WESTFIELD - Ed Alstrom, Organist and Music Director of the Presbyterian Church in Westfield (PCW), will perform a free concert, “The Mighty Pipe Organ,” on Sunday, April 7 at 12:30 p.m. at the church, 140 Mountain Avenue in Westfield. He will put the church's 4000-pipe Casavant organ through its paces with virtuosic works by Bach, Franck, Widor, Ives, Alain, and others. He says the pieces are, “designed to display the pipe organ in all its sonic glory.”
The program will be a reprise of the concert he gave at the First Night festivities in Morristown last New Year's Eve. Mr. Alstrom invites the community at large and promises that “most of the program will be loud, fast, loose, and very enjoyable!”
