Armed Robber Used Gun To Steal Wallet, Cell In Summit: Police

Six thefts were also reported from cars and homes in Summit, police reported.

SUMMIT, NJ — A victim reported being robbed at gun point on Christmas Day while walking in Summit, police reported.

On Dec. 25 at 9:07 p.m., the victim reported walking near Orchard Street and Broad Street when the armed robbery occurred.

The alleged robber is described as a 5’9”, thin build, light-skinned black male wearing a black hat, black sweater, black gloves and black sport style pants.

The suspect utilized a hand gun where he demanded the victim’s wallet and cell phone, police reported.

Patrol units and K-9 searched the area, however the suspects scent was lost due to heavy foot traffic in the area.

Summit Police Blotter:

On Dec. 21 at 11:10 a.m.: A report for a theft from a Beauvoir Avenue business was taken. The theft occurred between Oct. 20 and Dec. 20 where multiple pieces of hospital equipment were stolen. The total value of the equipment is approximately $6,691.80.

On Dec. 22 at 1:36 p.m.: A report was taken for a theft of services. The incident occurred between 1:15 p.m. and 1:36 p.m. on the same date. A parking services employee was assisting individuals with the parking gates on DeForest Avenue when a white female, in her 50s approached the employee advising she had lost her ticket. The employee advised the female to return to the pay station to pay for the parking. The suspect immediately reentered the traffic line of vehicles waiting to exit the lot, and as the gate opened sped out behind another vehicle. Total value of the theft was $30.

On Dec. 24 at 9:42 a.m.: A report was taken for a theft from a motor vehicle. The victim states while the vehicle was parked at Overlook Hospital, multiple items were removed from the truck of the vehicle; including several gift cards, clothing items and houseware items. Total value of the items removed was approximately $1,500.

On Dec. 26: Leroy E. Richardson, 47, of East Orange was arrested for a contempt of court warrant out of Orange. Mr. Richardson was released with a pending court date.

On Dec. 26: Warren L. McLean, 56, of Montclair was arrested for a contempt of court warrant out of Orange. Mr. McLean was released with a pending a court date.

On Dec. 26 at 2:08 p.m.: A report was taken for a theft from a parked motor vehicle for a business on Springfield Avenue. The victim reports taken from the unsecured vehicle were approximately $4 in change and a pair of Bose Quiet Comfort 35 Wireless Headphones, valued at approximately $350.

On Dec. 28: Daniel T. Boyle, 22, of Mountainside was arrested for possession of CDS. Mr. Boyle was released with a pending court date.

On Dec. 28 at 6:02 p.m.: A report was taken for a burglary to an apartment on Union Place. The incident occurred between 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. on this date. The victim returned home to find the front door of the apartment unlocked, and the back door of the apartment standing open. Taken from the apartment was miscellaneous jewelry and high end photo equipment. Total value for the items stolen was approximately $9,660.

On Dec. 29 at 10 a.m.: A report was taken for a theft from a Woodland Avenue residence. The victim reports a pair of earrings and a gold ring with diamonds went missing from her home between Aug. 5 and Aug. 19. The total value of the items missing is approximately $4,000.

On Dec. 29: Rachael Fonseca, 27, of Elizabeth was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. Ms. Fonseca was released with a pending court date.
