Art Center Announces Spring Classes and New Programs

Summit, NJ (February 11, 2016)—Registration is now open for the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey’s spring studio art classes and workshops. Sign-up is open to kids, teens and adults for courses in painting, drawing, ceramics, photography and more, and continues until classes begin on April 18.

New adult classes include, Evolution of Rings with new jewelry instructor, Jill Hurant. Open to students of all levels, the class will showcase approaches to designing and fabricating rings. Learn hands-on techniques and how to photograph nature in bloom at Reeves Reed Arboretum in a new Saturday workshop, Photography Field Trip: Meet up with Nature. Teens can expand their creative horizons with Art History Through a Digital Perspective, a portfolio development course and Photoshop® Special Effects (ages 13+). For kids ages 5-12, a Spring Break Art Camp will be held the week of April 11-15.

For adult students looking for a fun evening activity, the Thursday evening Cocktails & Canvas will be offered on three dates this spring: April 7, May 5 and June 2 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. No previous experience needed, sessions are led by an experienced art instructor. Refreshments will be served.

New programs include the Contemporary Conversations lecture series beginning this month and continuing through May with lectures by exhibiting artists, activists and art directors. A behind-the-scenes look at Paper Mill Playhouse’s production of Bandstand with Artistic Director Mark Hoebee will be presented on March 10. All presentations are held at the Art Center and begin at 7 pm.
