Hitting the Jackpot at Captain Ed's Restaurant

Hitting the jackpot at Captain Ed's Restaurant in Point Pleasant, NJ!

Well my weekend started off uneventful.  I hit the Flea Market on Friday and left empty handed to my surprise.  This has never happened to me before! It took the wind out of my sail!  Also, I knew there was not going to be an auction or even any garage sales this weekend because there was a huge event in Point Pleasant called "The Seafood Fest".  This event attracts over 60,000 people every year!!!   So I called it a day and decided to just be a normal person and attend the event on Saturday.

Saturday morning, the day of "The Seafood Fest", I ventured off to the gym for my normal routine.  On my way home all the traffic in Point Pleasant was being diverted because of the event.  I ended up down back roads to get to my house and I stumbled accross a nautical collectors dream!!!! Outside of Captain Ed's Restaurant http://www.captnedsplace.com in Point Pleasant, NJ was a huge trailer set up with the most unbelievable "Nautical Finds" I had ever seen.  I almost got in a car accident as I pulled my car to a halt.  All I could think of was this for REAL.  I got out of my car and ended up friending the owner of the restaurant. He was an awesome guy and by the way the food at his restaurant is fabulous!  We talked for a long time as I checked out all his merchandise that was going to be for sale.  He supposedly was having an estate sale starting at 1:00. He told me that he hadn't pulled out half the stuff yet from his apartment.  I looked at him and basically begged him to let me see what he had before the sale started.  To my surprise he said, "yes".

When I got upstairs, I couldn't believe my eyes; my partner who I share space with at The Point Pleasant Antique Center, was there too.  I just looked at him and laughed because we both knew that we were going to be fighting over the same "Finds".  He would be buying the guy version and I would be buying the girl version.  There were old antique lobster traps, shipwheels, brass propellers, port hole windows and mirrors, framed maps, nautical artwork, and the list goes on....  I didn't know what to buy first until I walked into his diningroom and there was an original Las Vegas Slot Machine which was calling my name.  My son is turining 15 in two weeks and I knew it would be a great birthday present and it was something that would thrill him.  Ed, the owner, gave me great prices on everything I bought.  I felt like a kid in a candy store and wanted everything; but knew I had to choose the best pieces for my business.

Both myself and my partner walked out of there happy and content.  Neither +one of us knew about the sale and both of us stumbled accross it at the same time.  I guess it was fate!  What would I have blogged about?  Too Funny, it's strange how things just happen.
