Circus And Bands Slated For This Year's Summit National Night Out
Summit's annual National Night Out will have community and police events, music, and refreshments on Aug. 3.
SUMMIT, NJ — The Summit Police Department is hosting Summit’s annual National Night Out Against Crime on Aug. 3 from 6 to 9 p.m. on the Village Green at 356 Broad St.
The event will include a circus performance, police events, and refreshments.
National Night Out events are held in communities across America, a night for neighbors to get to know each other, meet their local police, and show unity against crime.

The Schedule In Summit:
- 6 p.m.: Food trucks will be available and entertainment will begin.
- 6:15 p.m.: The Circus Time circus will be performing
- 7 p.m.: After the performance comes the annual Blessing of the Badges.
- 7:15 to 8:45 p.m.: The band Twice Heard will perform on the main stage.
- Free hot dogs will be provided at Summit PAL food cart.
The city of Summit says, "Featuring a variety of municipal, county, state, and federal-level agencies, National Night Out provides a chance for community members to come together to view displays and demonstrations by Union County SWAT, NJ State Police and K-9 along with Summit Police, Summit Fire Department, Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad, and the Division of Public Works."

The National Night Out website states that the annual event "enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances."
Seeking Local Nonprofits To Share Their Information
National Night Out is also designated as Community Night, an opportunity for local non-profit organizations to share information with the public. To participate, contact David Guida at dguidajr@cityofsummit.org.
Summit’s 2021 National Night Out is co-hosted by the Department of Community Programs and sponsored by the Summit PAL.

- In the event of rain, the event will be rescheduled to Wednesday, August 4.

- Most areas hold their National Night Out events on the first Tuesday in August, and the state of Texas and select areas celebrate the first Tuesday in October.
