Coach Walsh Looks Ahead to Girls’ Lax First Season Game Against Ridgewood

Coach Mike Walsh has been coaching Girls’ Lacrosse, “since the dawn of time,” he said, but he has been the head coach of the Summit Girl’s Lacrosse team for two years. 

Walsh has also been involved in the youth level of coaching in Summit, as well as coach of other high school girls’ lacrosse teams.  One of his favorite aspects of coaching is being able to see his students in a different light, he said.

The Summit Girls' Lacrosse team has won the Union County tournament four years in a row and last season the team placed second in their division.

Coach Walsh said the team has similar goals as last year, including winning the division this time around and defending the county crown. 

 “I think the girls are ready to try to win a sectional title I think more than anything that’s our major goal,” Walsh said. 

Looking forward, Walsh said the team is just excited to play and get past the long period of practicing, especially in the cold.

The Summit Varsity Girls’ Lacrosse team plays Ridgewood away on April 2 at  4 p.m.
