Community health champions to be honored at Atlantic Health System's 4th annual Empower Awards

Health care organization to recognize individuals and groups working to build healthier communities.

MORRISTOWN, NJ – OCTOBER 2017 – Atlantic Health System, an integrated health care delivery system in New Jersey, will recognize local organizations, hospital staff and individuals who have gone the extra mile to improve the health of their communities at the 4th Annual Empower Awards on October 18 from 5:30-6:30pm. The event will take place at the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown.


Three local organizations will be honored with the Community Partner Award, recognizing organizations that have worked closely with Atlantic Health System to build healthier communities:

  • Borough of Lincoln Park Health Department
  • Home Instead Senior Care (HISC)
  • Sussex County NJ Cancer Education and Early Detection (NJCEED) program

Jeanne Kerwin, D.MH, manager for palliative care and bioethics at Atlantic Health System will receive the Vicki Hughes Community Health Leader Award.

Atlantic Health System’s Altitude Program, based at Newton Medical Center in Sussex County, will receive the Innovative Community Program Award.

The health care organization will also honor a physician who has gone above and beyond to improve health care within the community. This year the Physician Award will be given to Frank Centanni, MD, an OB/GYN at Morristown Medical Center.
