Downtown Power Outage: Summit Substation Sundered By Fallen Tree

Temporary repair expected to be completed around noon.

SUMMIT, NJ - A large tree came down on Franklin Place this morning breaking a utility pole right at the substation where the power circuit begins, according to officials. Until approximately noon, power is expected to be out on Bank Street, Beechwood Road, Deforest Avenue, Euclid Avenue, Franklin Place, Glenwood Avenue, Hawthorne Place, Hobart Avenue, Irving Place, Larch Road, Maple Street, Parmlee Place, Springfield Avenue, Summit Avenue and Woodland Avenue.

According to officials, JCP&L is trying to rig a connection to restore power to the downtown around noon. A permanent repair should be in place by this evening. Power will need to be taken down briefly when that final repair is initiated.
