Drag Show, Boy Band, Food Trucks Highlight Summit Pride Event

SUMMIT, NJ - The Department of Community Programs will be hosting the first annual Summit Has Pride event June 7 on the Summit Village Green.

The event, sponsored by Saint John's Lutheran Church, The Summit Free Public Library, and The Connection, is billed as a special celebration of the LGBTQ+ community and pride month.

According to organizers, there will be food truck vendors, non-profit displays, games and activities as well as other entertainment. The schedule is as follows:

  • 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.: Drag Queen Story Hour and Family Friendly Drag Show
  • 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.: The Boy Band Project in concert
  • 8:30 p.m.: Screening of the film "Love Simon"

According to their website, the Boy Band Project is an NYC based boy band cover group specializing in the sounds, movement, and energy of the boy band. With music of Nsync, Backstreet Boys, Hanson, Otown, One Direction, Boyz2men, The Four Seasons, The Beach Boys, and more. You can see a preview of their performance in the video below:

The movie "Love, Simon" centers on Simon Spier, a closeted gay high school boy who is forced to balance his friends, his family, and the blackmailer threatening to out him to the entire school, while simultaneously attempting to discover the identity of the anonymous classmate with whom he has fallen in love online. Vendors and nonprofit organizations that support the LGBTQ community will be present at the event, officials said.
