new Healthy Hike interactive nature walk; explore our recently renovated woodland trails and discover the secrets of following trail markers; energize with fun family exercise classes; enjoy engaging environmental games and crafts; relax to live music by the alumni from NJPAC’s Jazz for Teens program; refresh with wholesome snacks and learn about ways to eat healthier. Healthy Hike is an outgrowth of Reeves-Reed
Arboretum’s participation in the American Public Garden’s Let’s Move! Museums and Gardens program. Let’s
Move! is part of a broader
initiative, promoted by First Lady Michelle Obama, to raise a healthier
generation of children. The Arboretum’s
goal is to provide families with enhanced opportunities for enjoying the
benefits of exercise in a natural setting.
To that end, our woodland trails have been renovated, marked and mapped
so that guests can navigate them with ease and be newly aware of the distance
of their hikes. In addition, an interactive children’s nature walk has been
created to allow our young visitors to discover, through movement, some of the
plants and animals that can be found at the Arboretum.

Reeves-Reed Arboretum, located at 165 Hobart
Avenue, is the only public garden and
one of the largest green spaces in the City of Summit. It is the only arboretum
in Union County. The Arboretum seeks to engage, educate and enrich its
visitors so they may become better stewards of nature and the environment. This
mission is achieved through the care and utilization of an historic estate,
gardens, and hiking trails, and in the presentation of workshops and classes in
horticulture, sustainability and environmental education. Reeves-Reed Arboretum
is listed on both the National and New Jersey Historic Registers. For more
