Road Work Ahead: Here's Where Drivers Can Expect Delays In Summit This Week

SUMMIT, NJ — Drivers traveling through Summit this week may want to leave a little earlier.

The City of Summit has released its road work schedule for the week of July 20, with work planned at multiple locations throughout the city. Temporary road closures and detours may be in place while crews complete utility and infrastructure projects.

Several locations are scheduled for work throughout most of the week, including:

  • Beechwood Road at Springfield Avenue
  • Beekman Road at High Street
  • Blackburn Road at Oak Knoll Road
  • Broad Street at Chestnut Avenue
  • Mountain Avenue at Elm Street
  • Prospect Street at Larned Road
  • Mt. Vernon Avenue at Harvey Drive

Additional work is scheduled early in the week at Canoe Brook Parkway and Bedford Road, Huntley Road near Eaton Court, and Hobart Avenue near Beacon Road.

On Thursday, work is also scheduled on Broad Street near Walnut Street from approximately 4 a.m. to 8 a.m.

Most projects are scheduled to take place between 7 a.m. or 8 a.m. and late afternoon, although times vary by location.

City officials said the schedule is subject to change as utility companies update their work plans. Drivers traveling through affected areas should expect possible delays and allow extra time to reach their destinations.
