Synopsis:
Speed-The-Plow is one of several successful plays Mamet has written about the business world. Filled with his trademark, rapid-fire dialogue, it focuses on the ruthless nature of Hollywood and the movie industry. With Mamet's superb use of dialogue and taught plotting the seemingly superficial depiction of two Hollywood producers looking for a big break finds deep meaning.
Character Breakdown:
Bobby Gould: (30s-40s) Recently promoted Hollywood executive. A hard worker and a savvy businessman. Figuring out what it means to have power and how to use it.
Charlie Fox: (late 20s-40s) Movie producer ranking below Gould. Cocky, self-assured, and charming. Very candid and willing to do anything to get what he wants.
Karen: (20s-early 30s) Temporary receptionist. New to the movie business. Confident, sweet and extremely intelligent.
