The Olmsted Legacy

The public is invited to a screening of The Olmsted Legacy – America's Urban Parks on Sunday, November 21st at 3:00 pm at Reeves-Reed Arboretum. This one hour documentary, produced by Rebecca Messner, a native of Summit, examines the formation of America's first great city parks in the late 19th century through the enigmatic eyes of Frederick Law Olmsted, the visionary urban planner and landscape architect. Several venues around the country related to the groundbreaking landscape architectural work of Olmsted have been chosen as sites for premiering this special film.  These include the Biltmore Estate in Asheville NC and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.   Reeves-Reed Arboretum is the New Jersey venue for this premiere screening which has been made possible through the through the generosity of The Speedwell Foundation and the County of Union – Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs.
