Fall/Winter 2017 Programs Announced In Summit
Summit announced its fall and winter program schedule for programs for children in Pre-K through high school, adults and seniors.
SUMMIT, NJ — The City of Summit Department of Community Programs is announcing its fall and winter program schedule for programs for children in Pre-K through high school, adults and seniors.
Registration is now open for all activities. Due to the upcoming Community Center building project,
locations for programs have changed.
Daytime programs for children ages 2 to 5, including Parent & Me Multi Sports Squirts, Squirts Multi Sports and Squirts Lacrosse, will be held throughout the fall at Wilson Park, located at 14 Beekman Terrace. Participants will experience fun activities and games in a structured learning environment.

After-school programs for children in grades K to 8 will be held throughout the fall and winter at Pilgrim Baptist Church, located at 77 Morris Ave. Interested participants can choose from a variety of hands-on programs, including Fashion Passion, Schoolhouse Chess, Inventive Investigations, Mission: Code – Coding for Kids, Young Magicians and Lego Robotics.
The DCP Tennis Recreation Program will be held throughout the fall at the Tatlock Tennis Courts, located at 26 Butler Parkway. Foundation Tennis is available to children in grades K to 8, and is designed to introduce beginners to the fundamentals of tennis. Development Tennis is available to children in grades 3 to 5, and is ideal for intermediate and advanced players looking to enhance their skills.

The DCP volleyball program will be held throughout the fall and winter at the Jefferson School Gym, located at 110 Ashwood Ave. This program is being offered for children in grades 3 to 8 as well as high school students and adults. Participants will learn the fundamentals of volleyball. All skill levels are welcome.
The Department of Community Programs also offers the Share the Fun Club, a free after-school program for
Summit residents in grades 3 to 8 that features homework help, arts and crafts, and other activities with full
supervision from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Registration is required. The Monday to Friday program will be held at St John’s Lutheran Church, located at 587 Springfield Ave. The Monday, Wednesday and Friday program will be held at Pilgrim Baptist Church. The Share the Fun Club runs throughout the 2017-2018 school year.
Due to the Community Center construction, limited senior activities will be available throughout the 2017-2018 school year. Gentle Chair Yoga will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church; T’ai Chi and Mahjong will be held at Pilgrim Baptist Church. All programs are available free of charge to members of the Summit Seniors Club, whose cost is $10 per year for residents and $50 per year for non-residents.
