The Summit High School field hockey team opened its regular season Friday with a 0-0 tie against Watching Hills Regional High School.
The Hilltoppers could not seem to get the ball in the goal although they did have several penalty corners and a few close shots on goal. Summit's defense was very strong, only allowing Watchung Hills to make three shots on goal. All shots were blocked by Summit goalie Grace Berkery.
Another factor could have been the game location. The game was played on a grass field at Watchung Hills Regional High School While Summit is accustomed to turf.

In addition, the team is still adjusting to its new lineup after losing many of its starting seniors due to graduation.
"We as the midfield are adjusting to the new positions due to the loss of last year's seniors, but I think with a little bit of practice we'll have it down," said Caroline Cordrey, a junior.
