Flash Fire At Summit Gas Station Sends One To Hospital
The flash fire reportedly started in the underground storage tanks at the Raceway gas station in Summit on Tuesday, officials report.

SUMMIT, NJ — A flash fire that started in the underground storage tanks at the Raceway gas station in Summit on Tuesday sent one to the hospital with burns.
The fire was reported on April 11 at 3:05 p.m. at the gas station on 36 River Road in Summit. Upon arrival, firefighters found the employee with burns and the fire 90 percent contained.
The victim was transported to The Burn Center at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston by the Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad. The status of his condition is unknown at this time.

As a precaution, firefighters stretched hose lines and used foam to ensure the fire was fully extinguished, Summit officials reported.
The scene was declared under control at 3:40 p.m. Summit Fire Department was assisted at the scene by Millburn Fire Department. Summit Police Department also responded to the call.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Summit Fire Department Investigations Unit and Union County Arson Investigations Unit.
