SUMMIT, NJ — A flood watch is in effect for Summit and surrounding areas from Monday afternoon through early Tuesday morning, according to a local alert issued Monday.

Forecasters say showers and thunderstorms moving through the region may bring periods of heavy rainfall, with one to two inches of rain possible.

The potential for heavy downpours could lead to flooding in low-lying and flood-prone locations due to excessive runoff.
