Fourth Summit Fun Fest Charity Event Has Record Breaking Year

The event raised $11,500 for various charities who were invited to present.

SUMMIT, NJ — The February Fun Fest, an annual charity event founded by Summit couple Ryan and Dana Felmet, raised $11,500 for charitable causes in just its fourth year of being held.

The amount more than doubled the proceeds from the 2019 event, Ryan Felmet said.

This year’s event was held on Feb. 8 at the Summit Elks Lodge and benefited the Cancer Research Institute, Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation-New Jersey Chapter, Brain and Behavior Research Foundation, and the Elks Camp Moore for children with special needs.

This year, the Felmets were thrilled to welcome the support of the event’s first Premier Sponsor, The Max Challenge of Watchung/Scotch Plains, which contributed to the event’s largest turnout to date. The event also received overwhelming support from local businesses who contributed food for guests and retail items and services for raffle prizes valued at over $5,000.

The event was well attended by over 100 guests, including many local residents.

Rick Wolffe, investment advisor with TSP Capital in Summit and Exalted Ruler of Summit Lodge No. 1246 of the BPOE, commented, “the Summit Elks were delighted to host February Fun Fest 2020 benefiting the Cancer Research Institute, the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation, the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation (NJ Chapter) and for the first time, the Elks own Camp Moore, which provides local special needs children with a fully-paid week at sleep away camp. Our fellow Summit Elk, Ryan Felmet and his wife Dana, established this worthy endeavor in 2017, and we are very gratified to play a role in their most successful event to date.”

Development Director with Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation–New Jersey Chapter Lisa Champion added, “on behalf of the New Jersey Chapter for the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation, we would like to thank Ryan and Dana Felmet for putting on an amazing event and the foundation is honored to be one of the four charities selected as event beneficiaries. Fun Fest 2020 had amazing raffle prizes, a creative wine pull, and a variety of entertaining activities. I personally enjoyed talking with all the members of the community who attended the event. Ryan Felmet added, “We are absolutely thrilled with the outcome of this year’s event. My wife Dana and I would personally like to thank local business donors, charity partners, the Summit Elks and our fellow community members who came out in record breaking numbers and fueled our best fundraising event to date. We crushed our goals and have now raised approximately $25,000 for charity in just four events! Without the support of our community, this would not be possible, and we are already looking forward to next year’s event!”
