Kent Place Middle School Students Named Champions at Forensics Competition

The Kent Place Middle School Forensics Team was named champion at the Middle School Consortium Forensics Competition.

The Kent Place Middle School Forensics Team was named champion at the Middle School Consortium Forensics Competition.

The competition was held at the College of Saint Elizabeth on January 13. Six Kent Place seventh and eighth grade students participated in the competition, which showcases the public speaking abilities of Middle School students.

“We were so proud of the way these girls represented KPS. They were truly fearless public speakers!” stated Librarian Donna Gulino and English teacher Kathie Hone, the forensics team coaches.

Students competed in either the Original Oratory or Interpretive Reading categories.

Original Oratory competitors from Kent Place included eighth graders Kaira Brown, Grace Reddington and Lauren Liroff.

Interpretive Reading competitors included seventh graders Stacey Espiritu, Elizabeth Cotter and eighth grader Disha Karale.

The team won overall in both categories!

Individual prizes were also awarded. Kaira Brown won first place and Grace Reddington won second place in the Original Oratory category. Stacey Espiritu took second place and Elizabeth Cotter took third place in the Interpretive Reading Category.

Four other schools participated in the competition.
