Adapted from Joyce Maynard's novel, it's an overly-romanticized melodrama despite beautiful cinematography and the incredibly talented Josh Brolin and Kate Winslet. A depressed, sexually repressed woman and her young son are kidnapped by a murderer (Brolin) who spends three days hiding out in their broken down house. Terror gives way to passionate love in record time once he cleans her gutters, teaches her son to throw a baseball and rubs peach pulp over her hands teaching her to make a pie. Interesting to watch, if you are looking for a romantic distraction - ala Nicholas Sparks.
