SUMMIT, NJ — A man broke into a car that was parked in the driveway of a home early Sunday morning, Summit Police said.
At around 6:58 a.m., officers responded to a home along Oak Ridge Avenue for a report of a car that had been burglarized.
A person who lives at the home said he received an alert at around 3:45 a.m. on his phone regarding surveillance footage. The video showed a man wearing dark clothes, light-colored sneakers, and gloves.

The man got out of a car that was parked in the street and approached two cars that were in the driveway.
He was then seen trying to get into a locked 2025 Rivian SUV, but was unsuccessful.

He was able to get into a 2022 Jeep SUV. "Nothing of value" was reported stolen, authorities said.
Summit residents should review their surveillance footage from Sunday night and contact 908-273-0051 if anything suspicious is found.
