Man In Surgical Mask Stole Lysol Cans From Summit Porch: Police

The man wore a light blue surgical mask and stole five cans of disinfectant, police say.

SUMMIT, NJ — Apparently, people pirating packages from porches are taking pandemic precautions.

The Summit police reported Tuesday that a man wearing a "light blue surgical mask" recently took three packages from a Summit resident's porch, which included disinfectant spray.

Police had responded this past Thursday afternoon to a resident of an Orchard Street home.

Police said that around 4:30 p.m., a "tall, slender, black male wearing a light blue surgical style mask, a gray zippered hoodie, black sweat pants with a red Nike logo and black sneakers" walked onto the resident's front porch.

Police said the suspect allegedly took three packages. In total, they contained five 19 oz. cans of Lysol disinfectant spray and one 1.5 oz. container of Kutol Health Guard.

The cost of the items was approximately $53.18, police said.

Police released no further information on the matter.

  • On May 3 at 11:30 a.m., someone reported that signs have been stolen from their residence over the past five months. The victim reported that three incidents occurred on separate dates since January, with "For Rent" and "For Sale" signs swiped.
  • On April 25 at 8:43 a.m., police took a report of a theft of plants from a Springfield Avenue business. The victims said that over a week, someone had been removing yellow plants from the property. The value was approximately $120.
