National Community Day for L’Oréal Benefits SAGE Eldercare Seniors

On Friday, June 13, L’Oréal employees were on hand to deliver Meals On Wheels to local residents and assist with activities in the Spend-A-Day Adult Day Health Center at SAGE Eldercare as part of their sixth annual nationwide day of service.

“We love having the L’Oréal employees from Berkeley Heights come to SAGE and give back on their annual community service day,” stated Marianne Kranz, Director of Volunteers at SAGE Eldercare.  “We feel very fortunate when local businesses coordinate part of their volunteer efforts by helping local seniors who use SAGE’s services and programs.  More importantly, our seniors are appreciative of these efforts.”

SAGE’s Meals On Wheels, established in 1966, is the oldest MOW program in New Jersey.  In 2013, approximately 600 volunteers delivered more than 43,000 meals to 250 people in Union County (Berkeley Heights, Mountainside, New Providence, Springfield and Summit), Essex County (Millburn and Short Hills) and Morris County (Chatham and Madison).  Each weekday, 20-30 volunteers are assigned 14 routes and drive a total of about 200 miles to deliver approximately 160 meals to 120 clients in parts of these three counties.
