
Kathleen Duncan Higgins, Age 97, of New Providence passed away surrounded by family on October 27th, 2018 while at her home in South Yarmouth, Cape Cod.
Born in Cedarhurst, Long Island, Mrs. Higgins obtained her Bachelor’s of Science degree from SUNY Oneonta and then went on to earn a Master’s in Education from NYU. She earned post-graduate credits in administration and supervision at Seton Hall University.
Mrs. Higgins began her career as a teacher in West Hempstead, Long Island. She moved with her husband Joseph B. Higgins to New Jersey, where she taught English as a member of the Irvington Public School system faculty, was co-class Advisor to the Class of 1962, and later became a guidance counselor. Mrs. Higgins enjoyed many years of membership in the Fortnightly Club of Summit, and was a member of the Senior Citizen Club of New Providence.

Mrs. Higgins loved to travel and visited many interesting places, some of which were Ireland, Scotland, England, South America, Alaska, and the Grand Canyon. She enjoyed visiting museums and libraries, gardening, and a good piece of chocolate.
In 2003, Mrs. Higgins was predeceased by her husband Joseph B. Higgins. To cherish her memory, she leaves her son Michael A. Higgins and wife Sarah, grandchildren Timothy, Bridgette, Erin and wife Nicole, Callum and wife Shannon, and great-grandchild Madeleine.

The family invites you to join them for a funeral mass to take place on November 10th, 2018 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Peace in New Providence.
