Political Signs Among Thefts Reported In Summit

SUMMIT, NJ — A total of 10 thefts were reported in Summit including stolen political signs.

Summit Police Blotter:

Oct. 25: Kali G. Villar, 36, of Bayonne was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. Villar was released with a pending court date.

Oct. 25 at 4:21 p.m.: A report was taken for a theft. The incident occurred Oct. 22 between 7 to 11 p.m. at a business on Springfield Avenue. Taken from a custom “party planner box” were numerous envelopes that contained cash denominations totaling approximately $3,000.

Oct. 28 at 5:59 p.m.: A report was taken for a theft. The incident occurred between 4:56 and 5:56 p.m. on the same date. Taken from a purse under a counter in a business on Maple Street was approximately $200 in cash and a Chase Visa card. The credit card had been used at a CVS for a $590 purchase.

On Oct. 30 at 9 a.m.: A report was taken for a theft. The incident occurred between 6:15 p.m. on Oct. 29 and 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 30. Taken from a Warwick Road residence was a political campaign sign “Clinton/Kaine” valued at approximately $10.

On Oct. 30 at 10:56 a.m.: A report was taken for a theft. The incident occurred between 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 29 and 1 a.m. on Oct. 30. Taken from a Blackburn Road residence was a political campaign sign “Clinton/Kaine” valued at approximately $10.

On Oct. 30 at 2:53 p.m.: A report was taken for a theft. The incident occurred between 2:01 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Oct. 25. Taken from the doorstep of a Norwood Avenue residence was a package which contained a Brunello Cucinelli pea-coat, valued at approximately $1,499.99.

On Nov. 2 at 4:31 p.m.: A report was taken for a theft of a presidential campaign sign. The sign was taken from the front lawn of a Dale Drive residence. Approximate value of the sign was $25.

On Nov. 2: Arsany S. George, 21, of Bayonne was arrested and charged with shoplifting. George was released with a pending court date.

On Nov. 2 at 5:04 p.m.: A report was taken for a theft of a brown men’s jacket and a German Passport. The incident occurred sometime between Nov. 1 and Nov. 2 at the Grand Summit Hotel.

On Nov. 5: Colin J. Haley, 39, of East Orange was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of East Orange. Mr. Haley was transported to East Orange Police Department with custody turned over to their officers.

On Nov. 6 at 3:08 p.m.: A report was taken for a theft of items from a Hobart Avenue residence. Taken between the beginning of September and Oct. 29 were boxed items containing dishes, stem ware and silverware. The items were valued at approximately $5,000.

On Nov. 7 at 8:38 a.m.: A report was taken for a theft from a Summit Avenue residence. The victim reported a pair of Rockport Aubrey shoes had been delivered to their home on Sept. 28, but the package was never received. The shoes were valued at approximately $99.95.

On Nov. 7 at 3:15 p.m.: A report was taken for a theft from a Sunset Drive residence. The victim reports the incident occurred between June 2015 and Nov. 7. Taken from the residence were a Dominick Haff dinner silverware set and several pieces of jewelry. The total value of the items taken was approximately $29,671.

On Nov. 7 at 7:14 p.m.: A report was taken for a theft of a political campaign sign from a Prospect Street residence. The total value of the sign was approximately $10.

On Nov. 14 at 4:44 p.m.: A report was taken for a theft from a residence. The incident as believed to have occurred between Aug. 15 to Aug. 19. Taken from a Kent Place Boulevard home were a 2003 Les Paul Electric Guitar and a Fender Deluxe Tube Amplifier. The items had a combined value of approximately $3,000.
