Springfield Man Hit By Bus While Crossing Street in Summit

Breaking: A Springfield man is in critical condition after being hit by a NJ Transit bus while crossing the street in Summit.

SUMMIT, NJ — A Springfield man is in critical condition after being hit by a NJ Transit bus while crossing the street in Summit, according to police.

The pedestrian, a 48-year-old Springfield resident, was crossing Summit Avenue on Tuesday, Nov. 2 at 7:04 a.m. when he was struck by the bus, Summit Police reported.

The bus, Number 70 New Jersey Transit Bus (Newark- Livingston Mall), had been traveling south on Summit Avenue.

The driver of the bus was identified as New Jersey Transit employee Ronald T. Lewis, 51, of Union.

The pedestrian was transported by Summit EMS to the Trauma center at Morristown Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition.

The accident is being investigated by the Summit Police Department Accident Investigation Team.
