Stony Hill Players Presents 'Pirates of Penzance'

This Gilbert and Sullivan favorite opens Friday, January 29

“The Pirates of Penzance,” one of Gilbert & Sullivan’s most popular comic shows, is set to be staged by the Stony Hill Players beginning January 29, and continuing through February 6, at the Oakes Center in Summit.

Featuring top local talent the updated production is a hilarious farce of gullible pirates, bumbling policemen, dim-witted young lovers and an eccentric Major-General.

The story follows young Frederic, who has been mistakenly apprenticed to a raucous, but secretly softhearted band of pirates. When Frederic falls for the Major-General’s daughter, Mabel, he disavows the pirates’ way of life. However, the Pirate King uncovers an “ingenious paradox” to prevent Frederic from leaving his Pirate duty. With the cowardly police no match for the swashbuckling pirates, can love save them all?
