Members of the public are invited to tour the renovated building that has undergone a $6.5M refurbishment beginning in September 2017. Upgrades to the 65-year-old building include a 17,000 square foot expansion that doubles its original size, a new gymnasium financed by Investors Bank with a high school regulation size basketball court, and a designated building wing for senior citizen activities funded by Celgene Corporation. The revamped community center will also continue to serve as the headquarters for the city's Department of Community Programs.
The new Summit Community Center will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m.
