Summit Election Results 2017: Democrats Sweep In Summit

Breaking: Democrats swept the election in Summit, according to unofficial results.

SUMMIT, NJ — Democrats were favored this year in Summit.

Here are the unofficial results of the 2017 City Council.

In Summit there were contested races for councilman-at-large, 1st ward and 2nd ward councilmen.

Democrat Beth Little had 3,739 votes to overtake republican David G. Dietze with 2,408 votes, who were both vying for one two-year councilman-at-large seat.

Democrat Matthew Gould had 1,705 votes to win over republican John Dougherty with 1,196 votes for the one three-year 1st ward councilman seat.

Democrat Marjorie Fox had 1,765 votes to win over republican Mike Wattick with 1,446, who were both vying for one three-year 2nd ward councilman seat.

Results are unofficial until certified by the Somerset County Clerk and do not include absentee ballots.
