Summit EMS Volunteer Honored by Overlook

Henrietta Mahon, an Emergency Medical Technician with the Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad was honored by Overlook Medical Center with this year's EMT Excellence Award

Henrietta joined the Summit First Aid Squad in February 2008 and quickly became a key contributor to the squad’s success.  She has served several terms on the Board of Trustees, including as Recording Secretary and currently serves as both Corresponding Secretary and Chair of the Fund Drive committee.  She agreed to lead the fund drive at a crucial time for the squad because a separate capital campaign for a new building was also underway.  Henrietta is a regular member of the Thursday day crew, but can be found at the Squad throughout the week as she often signs up to cover special events as well as to fill the occasional holes in the duty schedule.  Earlier this year, Henrietta was part of a crew that was honored by the Overlook Stroke team for their rapid care and transport of a stroke patient resulting in a successful outcome.

According to Squad Captain John Staunton who nominated Henrietta for the award, “The Summit First Aid Squad has been blessed with many dedicated volunteers and it’s difficult to choose one for this award, But, this past year, Henrietta or “H” as she is called by her crew has gone above and beyond the call of duty to help the squad both behind the scenes and in the field.”
