Summit Honors Veteran Officer Ron Martin

SUMMIT, NJ - The Summit Police Department is honoring officers who served in the armed forced for Veterans Day and one of those being highlighted is Sgt. Ron Martin.

The Summit Police Department will be sharing some officers bios who have previously served in different branches of the military:

Sgt. Ron Martin, Petty Officer Third Class - US Navy

• 1985: served aboard the USS John Hancock, a naval destroyer, as a radioman
• 1986: deployed to the North Atlantic for 6 months, visiting over 20 port-of-calls
• 1987: stationed at Guantanamo Bay
• 1988: deployed to the Persian Gulf for 9 months during Operation Praying Mantis
• Also served aboard the USS Reclaimer, ported in Hawaii

Commendations:

• Golden Chalice Award
• Navy "E" Ribbon
• Golden Communications Award

"Thank you, Sgt. Martin, for your bravery and service to our country," Summit Police said on social media.
